Was Fosh Automotive A Hoax?

Filed under: Electric Cars — Tags: — Nick @ 6:00 am

Do you remember the tantalizing Fosh posts we did here and there about some outrageous electric vehicle, EV?  According to our friends at AutoBlogGreen, it was a hoax.

The gist, and this will be short, Fosh seems to be about a political smear campaign.  When we went back to the their website but didn’t see anything new besides the promising and alluring coulds and shoulds.  However, when we went to the forum, sadly the only thread was in the “release” part, were vulgar and talking about leaning to one presidential candidate.

It’s just another day in politics, ever so slowly digging holes so deep we wonder how honest politicians can actually make serious contributions anymore.  Until we actually see something from Fosh we won’t talk about it.  As far as it looks, it seems like yet another politico low game.

Electric Vehicles, A Week In Review, Part II

More electric vehicle, EV news this past week for you this weekend.

Only Hybrids by 2020, at least that’s according to WiredThe gist, based on IBM’s “Automotive 2020: Clarity Beyond the Chaos,” (.pdf) report interviews with 125 auto industry executives in 15 countries.  What, did you doubt it?

Remember Fosh? The links to this website have been removed after it was discovered to be a politico-inspired website.  We heard a little more about the secret: “The battery packs don’t actually recharge themselves. There are solar type panels throughout (none visible) the car, that will turn heat into energy, thus providing power back into the battery units.” and some news about the revelation tomorrow here.  Using the body of the vehicle to provide electricity to recharge the battery and integrating regenerative braking and you have a good recipe.  According to a source on Engadget: “composed of tiny gold antennas set in polyethylene plastic is tuned to gather 80 percent of energy from infrared rays” and can therefore produce electricity from any source of heat”. The suspense is intense…

An electric bike? The gist, Ultra Motor A2B electric will be available in the U.S. in September for about $400.

The world charges electric stations. So what is the rest of the planet doing as far as building an infrastructure for our EV?  London is building 9 more charging stations.  Tokyo is working on 200 charging stations.

Solar for the mass! The gist, Sam’s Club in the U.S. is offering solar kiosks to hook consumers up with established solar sellers and installers.  Smart.

Hydrogen without platnum? Our friends over at EcoGeek give us a good update on a hydrogen fuel-cell update.  The gist, no doubt about it, making hydrogen is expensive and requires another expensive element, platinum.  Research tackles how to go about it without platinum.

Food for thought.  Have a great new week.

More Electric Vehicle News, A Week In Review

More electric vehicle, EV and hybrid news for you today.

Triac from Green Vehicles (more to come on later)  History, a company that offers EVs. The gist, a $20,000 EV highway capable (80mph) with a range of a 100 miles and soon-to-come an extra 25% boost.  It will be available in San Jose by August 15th and on the road after October 15th, according to our friends at AutoBlogGreen.

Who is afraid of Fosh Automotive? The link to the website was removed due to the controversial nature of their site.  Not us.  Thank you PetroZero for this tantalizing post on this mysterious newcomer.  The gist, an unlimited range EV to be revealed on August 18th.  What do you call the claim:  “could be the first unlimited mileage, electric car” for less than $25,000?  Fosh Motorcycle?  Intriguing, to say the least.  We’ll keep you on our radar.  UPDATED:  It was a hoax, a political one at that!

Suzuki goes Hydrogen with its SX4 for Paris in October.  And if Suzuki and hydrogen make you raise an eyebrow, how about a Suzuki hydrogen motorcycle?

Chevy Volt in the news.  Covered here many times, it will be shown as what it could look like in production.  Ah, from prototypes to productions, why do they look so different?

SUVs, OK, so they’re big, heavy, powerful, expensive and have poor mileage, but the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid is the first full size Hybrid SUV to be available.  The gist, interesting technology tested in the 70s, it sports a 6L V-8 with 320 hp coupled with GM’s two-mode hybrid system and Active Fuel Management to run on 4 cylinders for extra fuel savings to get around 22mpg.  Good for SUVs.

An update on Friday’s Nissan EV-02The gist, with its next generation li-ion research, Nissan battery chief Toshiyuki Motohashi and partner NEC have opted for manganate-doped lithium-ion formulation.

Remember Bricklin and his SV-1?  He is very much still active with a project to develop a plug-in hybrid, PHEV, as well as fighting Chery Automotive.  The gist, he plans to develop a PHEV sports sedan good for 100 miles per gallon and less than $40,000.  Will he pull it through?

Clear path to tomorrow’s future!
