Cash For Clunker has helped hybrid sales rise in July 2009, while Ford develops its own V2G to work with its SYNC®, SmartGauge™, EcoGuide, and Ford Work Solutions™.

Busy weekend for most of us at Electricnick, with a surprise test drive of the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione, an introduction to I-DriveGreen and other projects we will reveal in a few months. But in the meantime, what is happening in the world of the electric drive?

FORD Tackles V2G. Ford is not resting is marathon race to distance itself from, its other two local competitors by tackling V2G, according to this Ford post. The gist, is that their V2G rests on top of Ford’s connectivity system that uses SYNC®, SmartGauge™ with EcoGuide and Ford Work Solutions™ – to allow programing to recharge, for how long and at what utility rate. Smart implementation. Te time-line for electric vehicles, EV are confirmed as being for the battery electric Transit Connect small commercial van to be introduced by 2010, the electric Ford Focus in 2011, the next generation hybrid in 2012, and the plug-in hybrid, PHEVs in 2012

Cash For Clunkers, A Boost For Hybrids. Obviously, Cash for Clunkers was a boost for hybrids judging by this Hybrid Owners of America organization report showing purchases of hybrids in July were up 35% from June numbers, and 31.8% from the year before. July sales reached a record market share of 3.55% of new car sales compared to sales of conventional vehicles that rose by 15.4% from June, according to the NewsTribune.

That’s it for now, stay tuned for more.
