In the meantime, a man builds electric charge stations in his own town for his own EV, while Top Gear surprises us with a Volt contender.

Here is a scan of what is happening with the electric drive worldwide.

Top Gear’s Answer To The Volt. While cannot hail Top Gear for finesse, we can get a chuckle out of them, most of the time. Top Gear, reputed anti EV guys have tackled the thorny issue of a Volt contender and the result is… interesting, at best. Via AutoCar, this beaut wrecked a TVR Chimaera for this result.

Top Gear iThrust

Man Builds EV Charging Stations In City. Fed up from not being able to recharge his own electric vehicle, EV, Mike Howard of Elk Horn, Iowa, U.S. spent $30,000 installing four electric charging stations, according to PriceWheels. Power to the people, we say!

Las Vegas Says, Charging Station A Must! The city of Las Vegas, U.S. is also coming to the conclusion that it needs to have recharging stations, according to its local newspaper, the LVSun.

Electrification Coalition Does Not Include V2G. A blaring oversight or simple disregard of V2G technology from the Electrification Coalition? A good questions asked by Agnes Crane at Reuters. It felt until now V2G would be included at some time in line but Agnes brings a good point.

The Electric Rolls Royce Speaks Again. Rumors around an electric Rolls Royce are still being circulated, according to GreenMuze, there should be an electric Phantom by 2012.

That’s it for now, stay tuned for more.

Jonathan Ward will offer electric Jeeps after converting Toyota Land Cruiser to electricity. In the meantime, the glorious Rolls Royce is toying with the idea of an electric Phantom, and Duke plans for 10,000 plug-in hybrids by 2020. And welcome to Arcimoto with the introduction of its all-electric Pulse

Never a dull moment in the new industry of electric vehicles, EV and their related hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

Welcoming A New Electric Vehicle. Welcome to Arcimoto‘s electric vehicle, EV prototype, now on display in Eugene, Oregon, U.S. at the at Pioneer Courthouse Square, according to KMTR. The prototype is a three wheeled EV, called the Pulse that can travel 50 miles on a charge that takes around 6 hours, will do 55mph and will cost less than $20,000.

Utilities Move To PHEVs. The move to plug-in hybrids, PHEVs for utilities makes a lot of sense and Duke, with the help of FPL will have 10,000 PHEV by 2020, according to EnvironmentalLeader.

Electric Rolls Royce? We have seen far strange things in the past year or so but an electric Rolls Royce is by far the biggest eye raiser this year. According to MotorTrend, Rolls Royce is considering an EV on its Phantom platform. Since weight is not much of an issue on the 6,000 Phantom, what would probably happen is that it would receive BMW’s hybrid drivetrain.

Jeep EV Kits. Good news for those following Jonathan Ward, who has already successfully converted a few Toyota Land Cruiser to electricity. This time Jonathan is working on Jeep’s which will come in kits at a much more affordable $15,000 to 35,000 depending on options and built, via CarDomain.

That’s it for now, stay tuned for more.
