So how green is a green electric vehicle, EV? Glad you asked.
The gist is not too many people question how green EVs are. It might not be a bad thing to remind people that building EVs still pollute. Add to this that most of the energy in this world comes from polluting sources, coal and natural gas, except for a few countries that boast a majority of clean energy, the question might not be a bad one if not at least to put things in perspective.
Green Cars With A Not So Green Manufacturing Process. No matter how you look at it, manufacturing an electric car still pollutes. Green manufacturing will be the next thing and until then, metal has to be produced, melted and shaped. Rubber has to be produced and shaped into tires and hoses, and plastics still to be used for electronics and parts. Add to this that EVs still need coolant and other oil fluids to function. Brake systems use less than “green” liquids. All of these make EV not as green as what most consumers wanting a better conscious would have.
Cleaning Energy For Green Cars. If manufacturing is a polluting process, most energy comes from polluting sources. We can only welcome a global push for cleaner energies, such as alternative and clean renewable sources.
EVs A Step Closer. Nonetheless, EVs are getting us a step closer to a greener world. Remove the cumulative tail pipe exhaust from cars to a few centralized power plants helps curb down emissions. But it is not an end to itself. There is still a need for a strong push for clean, renewable alternative energy followed for a greener manufacturing process. All in all, we are heading in that direction.
