3000K Of Australian Desert Race In A Tesla Roadster

With a Rallie of Monaco under its belt, the Tesla Motors Roadster is out to venture into another brutal one, this time in Australia.

The gist is that there is no better way than to prove your car technology through a race or rally.  Rallies are tough and 3000 kilometers, or about 1,900 miles is a great way to show your technology is worthy.  After the Rallie de Monte Carlo, a Tesla will endure a harsh Australian race.

Darwin To Adelaide.  According to PCAuthority, Internode Managing director Simon Hackett will enter his personal Tesla Roadster (the only one in Australia) into the grueling 2009 Global Green Challenge on the 24th of this month.  The Global Green Challenge is a race made and created for alternative energy vehicles, such as electric vehicles, EV, from solar powered to aerodynamic streamlined concepts.  Why?  If you have to ask… well, why would you need to?

How feasible is a Tesla Roadster for a rally is a better question.  With a 3.5 hour recharge time, since we are in Australia that has a 240V system, the Tesla can recharge in a few hours instead of double-digit on a 110V, racing one makes more sense.

As time goes by we will see more and more EV racing and certainly look forward to such events.  They not only show potential drivers that EV offer superior performance, at least as far as raw performance and pure torque then their quirky internal combustion engine, ICE counterparts and also helps EV manufacturers continue to develop the electric drive.
