China is on the move again, this time with the top 10 car makers branding together EV standards.
The gist is that China will not stand still while the rest of the world maneuvers through its entangled and convoluted web of bureaucracy and heavy political machines. It has a chance to grab the lion’s share of the electric vehicle, EV market and it is making sure it will.
Chinese EV Standard. The top 10 car manufacturers in China are branding together to form a standard for EVs, according to TradingMarkets. So what does this mean?
Ten car companies invested in EVs have worked on bringing together a program of action for China’s EV industry Development. The companies include some of the biggest in the country, namely; Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, China FAW Group Corporation, Dongfeng Motor, Chang’an Automobile , Guangzhou Automobile Group, Beijing Automotive Industry Holding, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, Brilliance Auto, Chery Automobile, and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile. Notice anyone missing? BYD.
Our take? While we praise groups coming together to facilitate EV adoption, we cannot help but wonder why BYD would not partake in such a venture. BYD has done very well and has to be the leader in China when it comes to EVs. It will be interesting to see if the company joins its competition or does it alone. At this point in time, BYD is the top dog and its weight could effect many things.
