A while back, we met with Guy Negre, the founder behind the concept of compressed air cars at Motor Development International, MDI, in the south of France.
The gist is since our first visit six month ago at MDI, the little company has had a lot of successful with airports trials, as well as a few other projects that have taken off. Tata group is backing the small French firm with plans to introduce a new and improved version of the current compressed air engine in India. As we said before, we believe this platform would make perfect sense for fleets, as well as ice cream delivery trucks, since the only emission is cold air, which can double as AC in the middle of summer.
MDI, The Little Idea That Goes A Long Way. If the competition in France was fierce and the smear tactics were lamentable but the Guy Negre team is still pushing forward. A new site from a fan keeps us to date with what is going on at MDI. With three projects floating in the air, their application still depend on one thing. Finding an efficient way to compress air.
MDI Fan Base. The fan base MDI page keeps the news relevant. For instance, the Air France and KLM compressed air trial of the Airpod we covered a while back, as well as the Forbes article test driving it.

We found our test driving experience an enjoyable one and a hint at what the future holds. At some point, we will have to do away with steering wheels and introduce joysticks to control our vehicles. It felt natural and did not take long to get used to it.
