A Daily Jolt Of Electric Car News

All electric Tango from Commuter Cars

All electric Tango from Commuter Cars

It has been a crazy week with one of our main contributor breaking their collar bone, which explains the delays.  Back on track… at least for now.

  • First Ultracapacitor Vehicle.  The first ultracapacitor powered vehicles will be showcasedc on October 21st by Sinautec Automobile Technologies, LLC and the American University at a press conference and demonstration, according to TLNews.  An eleven-seat minibus, powered by state-of-the-art ultracapacitors, and charged by a 5,000 watt mobile solar unit.  Why is this important?  Ultracapacitor powered vehicles were long thought to be impossible but with their quick charging capability and cheaper to produce ultracaps, it would revolutionize the world of electric vehicles, EV.
  • Bullish On Maxwell Technologies.  Over on Seeking Alpha, Zachs Investment research is bullish on the future of Maxwell Technologies dues to strong ultracapacitor demand and its future use.
  • Gallons Per Miles Estimates, A tricky Affair.  The DOE National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is working with the Idaho National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory to develop methods to reasonably predict a plug-in hybrid’s, PHEV average fuel and electricity consumption, according to CanadianDriver.  Why is it important?  Short of the fact that we will have more accurate ratings on mileage, it might also nip in the bud extravagant claims from auto makers.

Yes, it has been a ultracapacitor kind of day…  Stay tuned for more.
