It would be easy to forget that there is life beyond the Frankfurt Auto Show and Fisker is here to remind us that much is happening.
The gist is that a nice competition war is brewing between Fisker and Tesla Motors which can only spell good news for the electric drive, in general.
Fisker’s Sub-$40,000. If theFisker Karma $87,999 is too much for your budget, then how about a $39,000 other Fisker mobile? According to FastCompany, Fisker plans to produce 100,000 sub-$40,000 mid-sized sedan. Fisker and Tesla Motors are stoking the electric drive competition.
Fisker Karma Tech Specs. Here is a little more on the Fisker Karma. Its recently estimated fuel consumption through a Society of Automotive Engineers, SAE calculation came out to be more than 100 mpg during official EPA testing. The equivalent of 15,000 Karmas would save at least 248 million gallons of gas a year and 2.5 million tons of CO2 emissions, according to Edmunds. Fisker’s own estimates shows that fueling the Karma would cost its operator about 3 cents per mile in Stealth mode, using 21 kW/h per 100 kilometers, or 62 miles.
It is not only good news to hear another maker of high end performance electric drive brings another cheaper variant of its platform. After the well received Model S from Tesla Motors that should end up costing about $50,000, a sub-$40,000 from Fisker is ample proof that the electric drive revolution is not only well and alive but that we have also reached the tipping point.
