If we know what the main German makers will be showing at the Frankfurt Auto Show, what will the rest of the world unveil?
Renault, 4 EVs. Renault is coming onto the electric vehicle, EV market strong with no less than 4 prototypes. Much as in the Mercedes BlueZero concepts, Renault wants to make sure that it has enough platforms to meet the future market demand. Much as in with Nissan, the aim is to be at least as cheap to buy and run as their gasoline-burning equivalents. While the Leaf is scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. in October 2010, the Renaults will hit in Europe by 2011.
Hyundai ix Metro. Hyundai is ready to show its ix Metro, a mild hybrid using a 1L three cylinder engine together with the electric motor will produce 123 horsepower. The one we are more interested with is the i10 Electric. This all electric vehicle, EV is not only pleasing but also sports a frugal 16 kWh battery with a 49 kW motor giving it a range of 100 mile, 62 miles. You should be able to get a 5 hour recharge at 220V and a claimed rapid 415V charge of 85% capacity in 15 minutes. We want to see it!
Kia Sorento diesel hybrid. The Kia Sorento turbo diesel will sport a twin-turbocharged 1.6L four cylinder diesel that together with its electric motor will provide 161hp.
