In the frenetic race to setting up the electric vehicle, EV infrastructure, a few manufacturers and start ups are already laying the vision for tomorrow.
- Canada Takes EV Infrastructure Charges. Vancouver, Canada has taken bold steps to make sure EVs will have places to charge up. The city has agreed to provide subsidies of up to $10,000 toward the purchase of electric vehicles, while Vancouver passed an ordinance mandating that 10 percent of parking spots in new condominiums be outfitted with electric vehicle charging stations, according to HybridCars. Why is this important? It shows that some cities and government are more proactive than others and not necessarily the ones who talk the most and loudest. Congratulations Canada!
- Speaking Of EEStor! It has become a familiar pattern. You hear much claims from EEStor, stock rices go up then nothing for a while until more talks, etc. This time we hear a little from EEStor CEO Dick Weir in this video on CleanBreak. The take away? Weir sounds confident the manufacturing will begin fourth quarter this year, however nothing on working prototypes that have been shown to the public. It could be the greatest thing or the biggest flop erroding consumer’s faith.
- U.S.A. Curbs Its Electricity Demand. As incredible as it might sound, Americans are using less electricity then they have before. Could it be that years of education are finally hitting home? We believe the recession speaks louder than reason. According to SmartGridNews, the Energy Information Administration, EIA predicts a 2% drop in electricity demand for 2009 but sees a raise of .08% for 2010. On this other post, sees a substation automation and distributed generation growing rapidly.
That’s it for now, stay tuned for more
