Tackling the EV infrastructure

It is a daunting task putting in place all the pieces to make electric vehicles, EV a reality.  Many aspect of different industries must collaborate in order to make EVs a reality tomorrow.

  • IBM & Cisco In Holland.  IBM and Cisco are joining force in the Netherlands to partner on a smart grid pilot project in Amsterdam, according to SmartGridNews. IBM will furnish the software and Web solutions for the product, with Cisco supplying IP-based technology for real-time secure connections between appliances and the utility.
  • Mercedes Electric Gull Wing! So it was not a joke after all.  Mercedes has developed an electric gull wing, via GreenCarCongress.  More on that later today.
  • Lewisboro, NY, Says No To Smart Grid. The town of Lewisboro in New York state said no to a proposal from entrepreneur Mike Gordon to sell electricity made locally back to utilities, according to SmartGridNews. The news was disturbing considering the board spent 25mn discussing not wanting to hear a 5mn presentation.
  • Lutz Is Back, Puts Volt In Cadillac.  In a nutshell, Lutz was asked to come back, now that GM is out of bankruptcy and the agenda is to bring out the Converj, much as we talked a few days ago.  Via CalgaryHerald.
