Electric cars will replace gas

At this moment and unless something goes terribly wrong, there is not reason why electric vehicles, EV will not replace gas cars.

  • Testing Lithium Batteries.  Weiss Gallenkamp has a series of lithium battery tests chambers available, according to ApprovedBusiness.  Why is this important?  There is actually little done as far as real life testing of lithium batteries in EV.  There is a dire need to create test platform too see not only how long the batteries will run for but also testing safety features and optimizing performance.
  • Builder Keeps Geothermal Energy In Mind.  The aspect of pumping heat directly from the Earth’s crust is an appealing aspect as it is renewable and plenty available.  Canadian Craig Marshall wants to build an 88-home community heated and cooled by a district geothermal energy system, according to CleanBreak.  Why is this important?  Geothermal is one of those alternative energy ideas that has not taken off completely yet, mostly due to the technicality of digging deep down to find pockets of heat and exploiting them without causing tectonic disasters.  If mastered, it could mean cheap and reliable energy.
  • Everything You Need To Know About Smart Grids.  Excellent article from SmartGridNews that recaps all that is implied when we talk of smart grids.  A must for anyone wanting to understand the concept better.
  • More On The BofA Tesla Roadster Loan.  Finally news on the fine prints of the Bank of America fine print on how to get a loan for that Roadster.  According to Gas2, you will need a $20,000 deposit, plus any registration fees and taxes, an additional $12,000 in LA.  After that, it is $1,700 per month for 5 years in principal and interest and you still qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit for alternative propulsion vehicles.  So over 5 years you’ll be paying roughly $12,000 in interest.  Here is the BusinessWeek coverage.

That’s it for now.  Stay tuned for more.
