Congratulation Italy for its new electric bike. The electric motorcycle world is growing by leaps and bounds.
The gist is that approaching the electric drive through a motorcycle probably makes more financial sense than directly with a car. If Italy has been home to some of the most prized cars of the world, it has been fairly slow to engage with hybrids and pure electric.
From Tazzari To Evolt. While Italy has already offered the Tazzari, we already have a few electric motorcycle makers on the block. Italy is the latest country to jump in the fray with the Evolt, Electric Vehicle Oriented called the Bull1. The bike is estimated at $12,540 if and when it comes out end of 2009.
Technically Speaking. The off-road MX designed can reach a top speed of 55 mph, 90 km/h. It sports some respectable numbers with 28 cells lithium polymer, LiPo battery pack rated at 96Volt and 30Ah powering a brushless 84Volt electric motor with a maximum power of 33,5Kw, about 45hp with a nominal torque of 32Nm. All of this comes with regenerative braking and the bike has a two-hour run time. It can be charged in about an hour.
Excellent news for the world of electric motorcycle lovers. More and more makers are stepping up to the plate which can only mean better battery development in the long run.
