The promise of electric vehicles, EVs is a welcome relief for our taxed environment but it will truly be successful when clean alternative energy solution will shoulder the biggest part of our energy demand.
- Lightning GTS News. Things have been quiet on the Lightning GTS side and news is coming in that the company expects to build two more, via AllCarsElectric. Apparently a limo-sized model is planned, as well as a high-end chauffeur-driven car with electric power for executives.
- iMiEV By July. Mitsubishi has announced the launch of the iMiEV in Japan by July, according to Reuters for $47,580.
- Mini E CARB Loophole. In a controversial move, Plug In America has started pushing for resolutions on what it calls loopholes in CARB. CARB would allow BMW, maker of the Mini E to earn the same credit towards the state’s clean vehicle program as standard production cars with their one-year pilot program. A sliding scale adjustment might be fair.
- Australian Advanced Hybrid Buses. Great news for Australia who adopts a series and parallel hybrid system for its Victoria buses, via GreenCarCongress.
- 70% More Hitachi Lithium Manufacturing. If recession is hindering car makers, some battery companies are forging ahead, as with Hitachi raising its production by 70% for its lithium batteries for hybrids, HEV and electric vehicles, EVs, via GreenCarCongress. Indeed, NewScientist reports that despite a recession, te electric vehicle industry and alternative energy is not slowly down but also has achieved a boost in funding that came from mostly private hands.
