So what is going on in the electric vehicle, EV world? Hybrids, HEV are being pushed out the door, while a boisterous crowd asks from beefed up plug-in hybrids, PHEV and pure EV fans await the mass production of their beloved technology.
- Smart Grids And Standards. Excellent job from Erich W. Gunther over at SmartGridNews who takes a stab at explaining what is going on with grids and standards.
- 0 to 120 Under 11 Seconds. Those numbers alone are impressive considering we are talking about an electric motorcycle, more precisely the MotoCzysz E1pc on a dyno, via AutoBlogGreen.
- Quyanta Working On A Street EV Motorcycle? Probably more in the rumor department than pure news but it would make sense for European electric motorcycle maker, Quantya to develop a street bike, much as Zero Motorcycles have done.
- Lithium Air Batteries, Breathing New Life. Lithium Air and Sulfur have be all the buzz lately with promises of longer charges and over all improvement. PhysOrg goes into details.
- Alternative Energy Sources. Whether we talk about lost heat produced by engine and people, magnetic fields, etc, the IDTechX in San Diego has attracted some interesting technologies, via EnergyHarvestingJournal. Systems as Micropelt developed MEMS based energy using thermal energy, to Advanced Linear Devices developing circuitry to boost voltage generated from energy harvesters, to Powercast working with CAP-XX, a supplier of supercapacitors to enable battery-less wireless sensors, makes the future even brighter.
- European Choose Mennekes For Their EVs. European have settled on a plug standard for PHEVs and EVs, working on both single phase 230-Volt connections and three-phasing up to 63 amps and 400 Volts. The Menneke J1772 connector system exchanges of data between the vehicle and charging station, via AutoBlogGreen.
Still not sure what to choose between the Prius and the Insight? Our froends over at EcoGeek ask good questions… if you can slow down the video a tad.
