Streamlining The Alternative Energy Strategies

It’s disturbing to see how companies squander their money, and tax payers bail out programs for technologies that won’t bring a viable solution for another few decades instead of focusing on what can work now and in the next coming years.  Ultimately, consumers will decide for themselves.

  • Another Nail In The Corn Ethanol Coffin.  To go on the record, we are not against ethanol, just against the U.S. is bent on making it from a poor base, i.e. corn.  Making ethanol from sugar came, already very rich in sugar is far most efficient than pouring tons of water on squeezing little energy out of corn.  How much water?  According to Environmental Science & Technology, 50 gallons of water to grow corn will produce 1 mile for a car burning ethanol.  Enough with the waste.  Let’s work on efficient technologies now.  We don’t have all the time in the world.
  • Volvo Turns To Hopeful Future.  Much as GM, who also faces bankruptcy, Volvo is trying to garner interest with a prototype of a plug-in hybrid with a twist, using in wheel electric motors, according to Gas2.
  • NY State Battle For Battery place.  Many states are jumping on the to receive money from the government in order to prompt their local sagging economy and unemployment.  According to Fox, New York State is working on where to concentrate their efforts, Albany?
  • The Green Bus Leads The Way.  A quieter way maybe but a revolutionary one, indeed.  According to Reuters, hybrid public transportation is the “hot” new market.
  • Improved Lithium Technology.  According to ConvertingMagazine, EDI, Extrusion Die Industries has worked on a way to make die systems ultra thin giving lithium added improvements, making them more compact, lightweight, high-efficiency lithium-ion batteries that can perform for years through thousands of charging cycles. Cheers to that!
  • ZF And Continental’s Hybrid TrucksZF and Continental are working together on a parallel hybrid truck sporting a 60kW electric motor used when the vehicle is setting off or operating at low speeds, according to RoadTransport.

That’s it for now.  Stay tuned for some ranting!
