The Green GT Racer

100% full electric sports prototypes.  They’re getting closer!

The gist is we are huge proponents of racing “green” cars, especially if it means 100% pure electric.  Racing cars has always shown to be an advantageous way to promote a brand, develop a given technology and when it comes to electric vehicles, EV, racing will take them to the forefront of desirability.

The Green GT Racer Cometh.  Add to the ever increasing number of green racers, the Green GT from the Swiss-based group…  Green GT, of course!  And that GT packs a punch.  The all-electric racer prototype was shown at the Swiss Show of Renewable Energy and New Technologies, Energissima, according to AutoBlogGreen.

Technically Speaking.   The carbon chassis was built in accordance to the FIA specifications and houses two water-cooled 100 kW motors rated at 1,475 lb ft of torque up to 100 mph, slowly decreasing to 590 lb ft.  The car currently does 170 mph with a weight of 1,896 lbs with two separate 30 kWh lithium ion polymer battery packs on board.  The twist on this definitely modern racer is that it sports Flexcells solar panels on each side.

The Future.  What can we expect fro Green GT?  The racer will be tested over the summer, with future plans for 20 and 25 vehicles.  And if you are in Europe and can’t wait until we have an electric bona fide race, they hope to establish a European series.  We hope for a worldwide series but it has to start somewhere.  In the future they expect to go up against their carbon-fueled counterparts in the various LMP2 endurance series.
