Electric Vehicle Shuffling

We certainly can’t say the financial crises has left the automobile industry without news.  Electric vehicle’s, EV are on every one’s radar as each companies tries to build a successful business model around these low maintenance cars.

  1. Peugeot & Mitsubishi Getting Along Quite Well.  According to Bloomberg, the PSA Peugeot-Citroen, Europe’s second largest car manufacturer has officially agreed to work with Mitsubishi to see the iMiEV under the Peugeot brand.
  2. Renault & Elektromotive.  If Peugeot is spreading good news, so is the Renault Renault-Nissan Alliance that announced a collaboration with U.K. company Elektromotive for the installation of charging networks for electric vehicles (EVs) in cities, according to CanadianDriver.  You can also read more about at the Independent.
  3. Solar Electric Car Getting Closer? Maybe not for your everyday needs but according to UberGizmo, the technology is chugging along with Eleanor from MIT that can reach 90 mph, but at $243,000 a pop, it will need to be seriously mass manufactured to lower its price.
  4. After Pure electric, Chery Goes Hybrid.  After introducing its EV, Chery is now developing A3 and A5 hybrid HEV, according to Alibaba.
  5. Toyota Battle.  Toyota is not only battling a faltering economy but Honda’s new Insight rival, according to Bloomberg.  It plans to scale back its pledge to build according to demand.  It did manage to get Best New Car Value from Consumer Report, according to ImperialValleyNews.
