A trip To The Tesla Shop In Santa Monica

We brought a gear head friend of ours, this weekend to the Tesla shop in Santa Monica, California.  It was fun seeing someone’s reaction to the electric vehicle, EV wonder of this world. The result?  He wants one!

The gist, true gear heads eventually see the light..  We should know.  It took us little time to be won over by the Tesla Roadster.  With the new Roadster S coming out in a few months with massively increased specs.  We thought it was time to repay a visit to the shop.

Technically speaking, if 3.9 seconds weren’t enough for you, we are sure 3.7 seconds due to a stronger electric engine will get you excited.  To name a few improvements;

  • Power motor: Hand wound stator and increased winding density for lower resistance and higher peak torque
  • Custom tuned suspension: Adjustable dampers and anti-roll bars tuned to driver’s preference
  • Tires: Yokohama A048 Ultra High Performance

will make this new improved Roadster an alluring one.

The Shiny New Mechanics Frontier.  If something should strike you as odd and bring a smile to your face, it’s to see an electric car company mechanic shop.  It’s clean, very clean.  No grease and oil on the floor.  In fact, the Roadster only has liquid cooling for the batteries and liquid for bakes.  That’s it.  And the results are clean.

There was much talk about the new S Model that will be officially unveiled in March at the shop.  Yes, we will be here.  And the much often reported price hike hasn’t deterred 98% of Tesla clients.

Lastly, it was nice being at the shop again.  It gives us a good insight of how car shops will be in the near future, clean and healthy.  And as far as our gear head friends?  They all succumb when they see the Roadster.  One down, a few more to go.
