Here is a look at the news on electric vehicles, EV and related technologies around the world.
Another Tesla Roadster Convert. Scott Burgess, from Detroit News is sold on the Roadster. “The first thing you feel when you drive the Tesla is the power. Whoa! This thing is fast.” Welcome Scott to the world of electric engines… Most of all, what I like about the Tesla roadster is that the company did it. This is a bona-fide real deal. Instead of waiting for the next piece of battery technology, the people at Tesla took what was available, improved it and started rolling cars off of its production line” Good review from Detroit.
The Big Automobile Boom. Penny Sleuth feels we could be on the cusp of a big automobile boom, despite the current economy. According to her Seeking Alpha article, her argument rests on the fact the other markets, such as China, Brazil, etc have started to buy more cars than the U.S. and that at one point or another, EV and plug-in hybrids, PHEV will be the norm and there will be a need for batteries to operate these cars.
ZAP Gets boost In Kentucky. Integrity Automotive plans to build an $84 million factory to produce the ZAP electric cars and has already received $40 million in orders, according to KYBiz. Scroll to the bottom of that page to find it.
100 Miles Per Gallon Truck. A bunch of Detroit figure heads, such as John Waters, former General Motors engineer and chief executive officer of Bright Automotive, a startup whose 20 employees are busy designing a 100-mile-per-gallon light truck with help from Chrysler, GM and Delphi veterans, according to EV World. The gist, have an assembly line by 2012 to mass production the PHEV.
Here it is. Enjoy the holiday season.
