Electric Vehicle Terminology 104

V2G, is a system developed by AC Propulsion, used to send and receive electricity from the grid and called a smart grid technology.  It is already already installed on some electric vehicles, such as AC Propulsion’s eBox, for instance.  So, what is it?

V2G, according to Wikepedia is a system in which power can be sold to the electrical power grid by an electric-drive motor vehicle that is connected to the grid when it is not in use for transportation. Alternatively, when the car batteries need to be fully charged, the flow can be reversed and electricity can be drawn from the electrical power grid to charge the battery.

You can sell your excess electricity stored in your car’s batteries to your local grid, as long as you car is V2G compliant. Essentially, you could not only drive for free but also get paid for it.
