Some communities will let you carpool with your new hybrid and it could make sense if you are stuck in traffic often. Don’t switch your SUV for the same in a Hybrid version as the mileage difference is almost insignificant.
Most hybrids will take you on an average 3 to 6 years, depending on models to recoup the price difference given where gas prices could be going. EVs and hybrids will require at some point new batteries in about 8 or more years. That should be factored in since at the moment it’s around $3,000 to change them but the price may vary as the technology develops.
