Chrysler, Dodge And GM’s Volt

So GM’s plug-in hybrid, PHEV Volt is not your cup of tea and you would rather stick to Chrysler and company?  Here is some news.

Chrysler announced a little while back it would offer an alternative to the Volt.  Chrysler more than most other US manufacturer is feeling the effect of the declining car sale since it mostly produces big vehicles.  Chrysler finds itself in a position where it needs to offer smaller more affordable and fuel efficient vehicles.

The gist. Dubbed ENVI AutoBlog reported that it is a concept project focused on developing an electric vehicle.  Theoretically, the concept will sport a 200 kw/268 hp electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery pack and could have range-extender in some concepts shared with Dodge and Jeep.  There are talks fuel-cell but so far, very little technical information on it.

What about Dodge? Dodge is apparently also working on an Eco-friendly concept sharing the same platforms as Chrysler’s.

The gist. Impressive numbers quoted here, the Dodge Zeo will be a 2+2 coupe with 64kWh of electric engines to the rear wheels (same as the Chrysler platform) good for 268-hp, 130 mph top speed with 0 to 60 in less than 6 seconds and a 250 miles range before recharge.

There are still no words about a plug-in hybrid, PHEV or electric vehicle, EV but a fuel cell hydrogen is announced.
