Electric Vehicles Renewable Energy and Storage News

That electric cars and hybrids have made the news these last few months is something of an understatement.  The fact that prizes are opening up for this budding technology is good news.

Automotive X Prize has been around for a little while and making plenty of headway by giving away $10 million to whomever will inspire supercar performance with hybrid technologies.  And now we have news of a hybrid world will try to tackle the prize.  Popular Mechanics talks about a wild ride here.  With a 220+ miles per gallon super car monster gas-electric hybrid and an all-electric for commercialization!  Sweet!

So who is Hybrid Technologies anyway?  A Mooresville, N.C. based company who already showed what it can do with an electric Mini and an electric roadster.  If you thought the Tesla Roadster looked great with it’s 0 to 60 in 3.9, the Hybrid Technology‘s roadster does it 3.1.  And this amazing new little thing called the L1X-75 will pack nothing less than 600-hp, a carbon-fiber rocket that recharges with nothing more than your 110 outlet.  Ah, the stuff dreams are made of.

Alright well all this is alluring and I want one now, can I?  Again, we will have to wait for the magical date of 2010, maybe 2009 if we are lucky.
